Significance/ Importance Of Pilgrimage

India is popularly known as the Land of pilgrimages; meaning that the land , where taking every step on , one feels an increase in energy, devotion & love towards God, the thought process gets purified with the sight of God & Saints. Additionally, our Scriptures have sung infinite glory of pilgrimages.

Also, equally true is the fact, that, one who takes holy bath in the pilgrimage of truth, wisdom, forgiveness, meditation & spirituality and the one who while observing celibacy bathes in the pilgrimage of self control, it is said, that natural pilgrimage is built , where such person resides.

That’s why a place, where Saints reside, becomes a pilgrimage. That part of soil , which they step on, becomes holy and worth applying on our forehead which enriches our fortune.

Just like we need to take bath to clean our body and soap to clean dirty clothes, similarly, to cleanse our old bad habits & our innerself, we need to serve the saints, listen to their spiritual discourses, observe fasts and do naam japa(remembering God’s name). One who is truly blessed with the company of such enlightened Saints, gets the merits of bathing in such holy pilgrimages.

Nearby is Dehotsarg, where He succumbed to His mortal wound. The temple at Bhalka Tirth is known as Mahaprabhuji’s Bethak, and a basil  tree has been planted in Lord Krishna’s memory. At the Dehotsarg Tirth, in the 9th century AD Shri Vallabhacharya gave discourses on Shrimad Bhagvat Gita for seven days, as well as the revered Gita Mandir, which has eighteen marble pillars with a chapter from the Bhagvat Gita inscribed on each one. The temple also contains a beautiful tribhangi idol of Lord Krishna playing his flute.

After the Gita mandir darshan, the journey was forward carried to Triveni Ghat in Somnath the meeting point of three holy rivers – Kapil, Hiran and a mystical River Saraswati

Triveni Ghat in Somnath is the meeting point of three holy rivers – Kapil, Hiran and a mystical River Saraswati, which are believed to be flowing to their ultimate destination – Arabian Sea. These stages of rivers where they meet and then flow together to the sea symbolises human birth, life and death.

Rajputa Vaja clan was in charge of Somnath during the Muslim desecrations. The devotional episode of the princess Veni is said to have been depicted in the novel by Shri K.M. Munshi. The temple was outside of the fort wall of Prabhas Pattan at the time of holy war with Gazani. The soldiers of Gazani attempted an abduction of the princess Veni, an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva who used to regularly visit the temple to offer her services to the Lord Shiva. The traditions maintain that the Shiva linga spontaneously got divided and the princess got buried into it. The Shiva temple here is known as Veneshwar temple after the fond memory of the divine episode of Veni.

The glorified carried onto place where Pujya Lilashshji Maharaj did penance and attended Nirvana. after that Dakshinmukhi Ganpati Mandir and behind that Swayambhu Shivlinga, there were many Shiv Lnga but the one appeared only once in  month else covered with Sea water.

Koliyak, Bhavnagar–Nishkalank Mahadeva Temple — Gujarat is full of wonders and awe. This temple is buried inside the sea. On a heavy tide day, all that can be seen are just the flag and a pillar. It is beyond one’s comprehension that there is a Lord Shiva Temple just under the fierce sea. This temple still exists, and people visit this place on foot! The temple has 5 distinct Swayumbu Shiva lingams inside. This is certainly one of the best spiritual destinations!

The following temple story dates back to Mahabaratha era…  Pandavas killed all the Kuravas and won the battle. Pandavas were grief stricken, knowing they acquired sins for killing their own relatives. In order to find redemption for their sins, Pandavas met Lord Krishna. To remove the sins, Krishna hands over a black Flag and a Black COW. He asks the Pandavas to follow it, when both Cow and flag turns white, they all will be pardoned. Krishna also advises them to do penance to lord Shiva, after that. The angst stricken brothers followed the cow wherever it went and carried the flag. They walked for days, to different places and the color did not change. Finally, when they arrived at the Koliyak Beach, both cow’s and the flag’s color turned to white. Pandavas were exalted. And all the 5 brothers sat for deep penance, meditated on lord Shiva.

Lord Shiva, pleased by all the brothers, appeared in lingam form in front of each brother.  In total there were 5 (Swayumbu) lingams which appeared on their own.  Pandavas were delighted to see this and they worshiped all the five lingams with great devotion.  Lord Shiva here is known as Nishkalan Mahadeva. ‘Nishkalank’ has many meanings, they are clean, pure, guiltless, to cleanse, to purify, etc…….

Devotee: Ma! How would we come to know as to which state of Sadhna  have we attained?

Maiyaji : Don’t worry about your state of Sadhna . leave everything to God but that doesn’t mean at all that one should stop doing his efforts. Do not waste your time in unnecessary gossip. Save that precious time & get deeply engrossed in Sadhna.

Devotee: ma! How should we do Sadhna ?

Maiyaji : One needs to have traits of ‘abhyasa’(practice) and Vairagya (detachment) and the stage of Vairagya should be such that you get detached from the pleasures of even ‘Brahmloka’(heavenly abode).

Devotee: Ma, What is Vairagya?

Maiyaji: Detachment from all the attractions or pleasures of this world and beyond.

Devotee: Maiya ji , What is ‘Upraamta’?

Maiyaji: knowing the momentary existence of available luxuries and being indifferent to those is called Upraamta.

UNRECOGNIZED WONDERS OF INDIA–Prernamurti Bharti Shriji

vlcsnap-2015-07-07-07h16m24s701
India is a vast country, with diverse cultures and ancient civilization. There are a number of religious groups residing in India. In India we find the oldest pilgrimage tradition in the whole world. The practice of pilgrimage in India is so deeply embedded in the cultural psyche and the number of pilgrimage sites is so large that the entire subcontinent may actually be regarded as one grand and continuous sacred place. The earliest sources of information on the matter of sacred space come from the Rig Veda and the Atharva Veda. There are seven wonders in the world, but india has its own unique wonders which cannot be found anywhere in world.
In India there exist many ignorant pilgrim who have  significance which people still dont know their name. But these places itself have Divinity and supernatural importance. One such unknown unrecognised pilgrim is TUA or TUA-TIMBA. This place is located about 18 to 20 km from godhra . It is almost 100-110 km from Ahmedabad.tua timbaThere are in total 120 kunds or spring. You may find here Kunds of cold water, Mild water, more than mild and Hot water. The water from these  springs is believed to have healing properties. Here you will find  Hot water sulphuric springs, .kunds are  believed to have a miraculous cure for arthritis and rheumatism.Hundreds of people visit here daily in hopes to cure their health problems and bath in Holy water. The water from these kunds also have significance of curing various skin diseases.
Tua Timba is a religious landmark area from the ancient period of Mahabharata. Where it was believed that during vanvasa or exile Pandav brothers bathed here. Pandavas worshipped Lord Shiva over here and Bhima and Hidamba's marriage was also performed over here. Footprint of Bhima can be found, which is also known as 'BHIM NA PAGLAA'.bhim na paglaimage from source.
Also a significant incident from Ramayana, stetes that, during Exile when Lord Rama visited TUA, a sage doing deep penance prayed Lord Rama," I am suffering from skin diseases, give me blessings O Lord, that i should be free from diseases and become healthy". It is believed that mostly people over there suffered from skin diseases.  Hence hearing devotees plea, Lord Rama evaluated these springs, with one of his magnificient arrow.tua2Every year TUA has more than onelakh people visiting , and taking bath. but the water level never changes , it remains the same. Even scientists have conducted many researches, to know the originating source of water, but did not succeed. The water level remains the same, no clues of originating source found till date. The mystical secret still remains the same.
pachmarhiSimilarly, Pachmarhi a tourism placce, has spiritual significance.A natural shivling is found in a cave over there, with water from an unknown resource falling over it continuously day and night. The falling water has resulted in the formation of river stream flowing with water upto the knees. You have to cross the river and approach the cave. Every year thousands of people visit here to take bath in the holy water. .Scientists found no clue about the resource on their experiments over here. The water level remains constant and no difference can be found. Is that not a miracle ?
In overseas Elephant caves are famous because of their size like an elephant. In India a place famous for its culture, tradition, history many such rocks can be found having spiritual significance and having size like elephants. Infact every stone or pebble found in river Narmada is believed to be a Shivling or Shaligram. Every nation has got its significant identity or famous places to be called upon, for  example, Great wall of China, some have dollars , some have petroleum, other tourist places etc. But India is famous for its objects, traditions, culture, places, atmosphere, divinity, sages etc and  many more which are uncountable, beyond imagination and cannot be found anywhere in the whole world. In India, holistic living is a way of life. People inherently understand the balance of nature, the ways of the Universe and how the elements affect not just their physical health, but their mental well-being .Even Indian gods, sages and people like Pandavs had enough power to create water sources at same place with different temperatures and having significance to cure diseases. Hence its clear that humans can derive the divine powers from nature , if themselves  are divine.

Significance Of Satsang–Prernamurti Bharti Shriji

141114124652-heroes-background-full-169The Guru is the bestower of silence who reveals the light of Self-knowledge that shines as the residual reality. Spoken words are of no use whatsoever if the eyes of the Guru meet the eyes of the disciple.(sc)

The flow of power from the Guru can be received by anyone whose attention is focused on the Self or on the form of the Guru; distance is no impediment to its efficacy. This attention is often called Sat-sanga, which literally means ‘association with self’.Sat means truth and Sang means to be with or associated with. Satsang is therefore association with truth itself. It can be practiced either by remaining in the company of a truthful or pure being such as Guru also in the company of people who are devoted to God. Association with a spiritual person is also a form of satsang only. Thinking of God or divine thoughts, reading spiritually inspiring books, visiting a temple or place of pilgrimage are other forms of satsang. Some people are fortunate enough to be born in a family of highly spiritual beings. For them life will be a continuous satsang. Others have to find either spiritual people or some other means to practice satsang. On a much deeper level, satsang means to be with or remain associated with the inner quality of sattva or purity. Sattva is one of the triple qualities of Prakriti (nature), the other two being rajas and tamas.(sc)

The quality of sattva manifests in human beings as knowledge, peacefulness, contemplativeness and thoughtfulness. People in whom this quality is predominant possess superior wisdom and knowledge and are usually drawn into devotional and spiritual way of living. Their thoughts revolve around God and they seek to liberate themselves from the bonds of ignorance and the cycle of births and deaths by surrendering themselves to God and leading divine centered lives. A sattvic person is a natural satsangi.(sc)

The company of Guru is always a satsang or in association with the good and the pure. The purpose of a satsang is to develop the quality of sattva through spiritual association with sattvic people. The quality of rajas drives people into restless activity. Rajasic people are driven by an intense desire to prove themselves to others. They are selfcentered in contrast to the sattvic people who are divine centered. Driven by passions, emotions, egoism and pride, they consider themselves as the doers and attribute their successes and failures to themselves or to their innate abilities and talents. Their belief in God is influenced by their personal goals and inner needs. Their relationship with others and even with God is conditional. If they are disappointed or suffer some set back, they would not hesitate to condemn God or question His very existence.(sc)

Tamasic people are usually disinterested in God and seldom drawn into active and disciplined life. Because they are insensitive to others and to their own inner feelings, they often indulge in cruel and criminal behavior causing pain and suffering to others. They are also drawn to intoxicating substances and food that causes lethargy. Even if they believe in God, they usually resort to secret cults and unusual methods of selftorture and selfdestruction to achieve selfrealization. Tamasic people are usually negative and pessimistic. They drain away other people’s energy by raising objections or discouraging them from taking any action. They always have an excuse for not doing things or doing things in a negative way.(sc)

By joining a satsang one can improve the quality of sattva and suppress rajas and tamas. As the mind is drawn more and more into divine centered thinking through association with like minded people, the quality of sattva increases. People who participate in them regularly become more reflective and intuitive. Their minds come to rest and their senses become quieter. Their egos yield place to the working of the purifying and cleansing energy and the awakening of the dormant energies. Satsang can definitely help people in stabilizing their minds in divine thoughts and developing the quality of sattva that is so important for transforming the lower self. Satsang is therefore spiritual friendship or association. In the modern world, in the midst of many distractions and allurements, people can practice it in many ways, not just through the traditional methods of meetings alone. It can be practiced even when one is physically alone by staying focused on the thoughts of God and the path of liberation.(sc)

One should wholeheartedly encouraged this practice and frequently said that it is the most efficient way of bringing about a direct experience of the Self. Traditionally it involves being in the physical presence of one who has realised the Self. The most important element in Sat-sang was the mental connection with the Guru; Sat-sang takes place not only in his presence but whenever and wherever one thinks of him.(sc)
