……Contd. from GYAN KI GEHRAI (The Depth of Wisdom)
Devotee: Maiya, all Saints preach it repeatedly that, we should always remember that “we belong to God and God belongs to us” but unfortunately, we don’t remember it all the time. How to keep this in mind, Always?
Maiya: Because you don’t have love & affection for God and you don’t feel the belongin with Him, that’s why you tend to forget. Like, if you keep money or any other dear thing of yours somewhere, you don’t forget, because you think that to be yours, it belongs to you. Similarly, if you feel same for that Supreme Being, you will always remember Him.
Devotee: Maiya, How to experience the divine nectar of God?
Maiya : For instance , when you eat some sweet only then you get to know its taste, similarly, only when you will remember Him with full devotion, then you will naturally taste the divine nectar.
We know how Lord Krishna, though He was fully conscious of His Supreme Divinity, served His Guru and studied under him. What He said was what He did; and what He did was only a commentary on what He said. Let us, therefore, turn to the Bhagavad Gita, the Immortal Words of Sri Krishna, to see what He says about one’s attitude to the spiritual preceptor.
“Na hi jnaanena sadrisham pavitramiha vidyate,”said Lord Krishna; there is nothing here so grand, ennobling and purifying as Knowledge. How can we attain that Knowledge?
There are two statements that answer this great question.“Shraddhaavaan labhate jnaanam”—”a person who hasShraddhaattains Jnana”. This wordShraddhais indeed very difficult to define; it is a perfect blending of love, faith, devotion, total egolessness and absolute surrender. The other statement is “Tadviddhi pranipaatena pari-prasnena sevayaa; Upadekshyanti te jnaanam jnaaninah tattvadarsinah”; “Know that by prostrating yourself to, by questioning and by serving those Great Ones who have had a direct perception of the Self; they will impart that Knowledge to you.” This Knowledge is impossible for one to acquire by one’s own unaided self-effort.
This truth is clearly brought out in theVisvarupa-Darshana Yoga. After revealing Himself to Arjuna and after once again assuming the lovely human form of Krishna, the Lord declares: “The Wondrous Form that you beheld just now, even the gods are ever desirous of witnessing.” The Lord had already said: “The Devas and the Maharshis know Me not; for I am their very Source.” “But, byAnanya-BhaktiI am capable of being known,” says the Lord.
When a person hasAnanya Bhaktithe Lord reveals Himself to the devotee, even as He revealed Himself to Arjuna. This is a point worth remembering; even then it is He who reveals Himself. It is only after the Lord gave Arjuna the Divya-Chakshu or the Divine Eye was Arjuna able to behold Him. Similarly,“Dadaami buddhi-yogam tam yena maamupayaantite”, when the aspirant is ripe for Wisdom, “I give the Buddhi-Yoga to him and he attains Me.”
Even in the crowning declaration of the Gita: “Sarvadharmaan parityajya maamekam sharanam vraja”, the Lord has made it abundantly clear “Aham tvaa sarva paapebhyo mokshayishyaami maa shuchah.”“Surrender yourself wholeheartedly, unreservedly and totally to Me; that is all that you can do;I will free you from sins. You cannot do this yourself. But I will do it, fear not.”
“You can only develop Shraddha; I will give you Jnana. You can only surrender yourself; I will give you Liberation.” That is the final declaration of the Lord.

Devotee: Maiya, shall we step on this path with the help of external sources or without?
Maiya: Using or not using resources is not that important, but to reach your goal. In earlier times, TV , VDOs, Computer etc. were not there and at that time the atmosphere was very peaceful but now since we have to move with the speed of Jet, so we use mobile, TV etc. for ‘satsang’ or for reading scriptures. Anyways you choose, but keep moving on this path.
Devotee: Maa, why doesn’t our Sadhna enhance?
Maiya: You are doing ‘sadhna’ but there is no purity. You should meditate with same ‘aasna’, rosary (Jap mala), same place and time every day. Punctuality is very important in ‘sadhna’. Do your sadhna with honesty and it will definitely pay back. You must same rules for your life. If foundation is weak, the building will fall down very soon. Similarly, if you are not honest and regular with your sadhna, you will get some success initially, but soon will reach back to the previous position. Just like , if you keep a earthern pitcher with a hole in it under the flowing water ,it will never fill up, similarly, if there are holes in our mind or heart, in the disguise of attachments, or jealously, then all the efforts for spiritualism go waste.

If failure comes, say, “It is a dream.” Be unruffled in everything you do. If you try hard to cultivate the dream-opposite to whatever trials you may be experiencing, you will be able to change a nightmarish experience into a beautiful experience.
The truth is embodied in the wisdom of the great ones that reveals to us the world as it really is. Had it not been for the training I received in this wisdom, I would not have liked to remain in this world
Of all qualities the purest is wisdom. Its unpollutable flame of light is the only effective adversary of darkness, ignorance. In due course of time, when the yogi reaches the ultimate success of freeing his consciousness from the gross perception of the body and the cosmic elements, he realizes, within himself—in the Self or soul—his lost-and-found wisdom as the sole liberator.
It is not a pumping-in from outside that gives wisdom; it is the power and extent of your inner receptivity that determines how much you can attain of true knowledge, and how rapidly.
Forget the past, for it is gone from your domain! Forget the future, for it is beyond your reach! Control the present! Live supremely well now! It will whitewash the dark past, and compel the future to be bright! This is the way of the wise.

Devotee: Ma! How would we come to know as to which state of Sadhna have we attained?
Maiyaji : Don’t worry about your state of Sadhna . leave everything to God but that doesn’t mean at all that one should stop doing his efforts. Do not waste your time in unnecessary gossip. Save that precious time & get deeply engrossed in Sadhna.
Devotee: ma! How should we do Sadhna ?
Maiyaji : One needs to have traits of ‘abhyasa’(practice) and Vairagya (detachment) and the stage of Vairagya should be such that you get detached from the pleasures of even ‘Brahmloka’(heavenly abode).
Devotee: Ma, What is Vairagya?
Maiyaji: Detachment from all the attractions or pleasures of this world and beyond.
Devotee: Maiya ji , What is ‘Upraamta’?
Maiyaji: knowing the momentary existence of available luxuries and being indifferent to those is called Upraamta.
Arjuna says, I don’t want to fight, as there are big warriors in front of me and in their comparison, I am not so.
Then Lord Krishna said,
taktwa hriday duryabalyam uttishth param tapa.
Meaning that, keep aside the weakness of your heart and do your karma. Srimad Bhagwad Gita never teaches that, you abandon your duties and work and be dependent on your destiny. Whatever lord will give, I will accept, NO…..
In Yoga Vashishtha MahaRamayana (famous Hindu Scripture), it is written, that
“O’ Lord Rama ! The one who always remain dependent on the destiny and resists one self from doing karma, is a coward, & the one who does purusharth (efforts) is blessed with enlightenment. Here efforts win, not the destiny. Even destiny is made out of efforts. A farmer was ploughing a field, suddenly a bird collided with the plough , he caught & sold the bird. He thought the amount which i gained by farming for so many days, can be gained just by selling a bird. Hence from today onwards,no farming just selling the birds. No, everyday he would go to the field and waited for a bird to collide, and in this manner waited for long , but thereafter ,neither a bird collided nor he could sell & earn money. Many people become happy by incidental profits, “Today is sorrow, Tomorrow will be happiness”. Dont wait for incidental profits, do efforts. Doing work is your duty and rewarding for that is the duty of God.
Uddeme na sidhhyanti karyani na manorathayi,
nahi suptasya sinhasya pravishyanti mukhe mriga.
meaning that , if a lion opens his mouth and keep sitting with the expectation that a deer will enter his mouth automatically ,then lion is mistaken. Similarly, If you want to eat chapatti and the flour , roller , chapati board as well as vegetables are near you, efforts have to be put in by you, so that your stomach gets filled. Therefore, one should always perform duties . Bhagvad Gita says that one who coordinates his work, knowledge and devotion, remains detached to materialistic world even though living in it. Just as Lotus grows into the water but remains unaffected by water. Like tongue remains inside your mouth, tastes lot of Ghee, Oil and butter but never becomes lube, similarly, while living in this materialistic world one should always take shelter of spiritual discourses and wisdom of Bhagwad Gita so that one can attain enlightment.
