Why is Shivaratri Celebrated?

Each Hindu festival is associated with many beliefs and mythologies, so is the holy day of Shivaratri. One belief says that Shivaratri is celebrated to commemorate the day when Lord Shiva consumed the deadly poison, which came out during Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean) Whereas, according to another belief, it is the day when Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married.

Let’s know the legend of Samudra Manthan in detail.
The legend of Samudra Manthan is the reason as to why Shivaratri is celebrated. It is said that once the devas (Gods) and asuras (devils) were churning the ocean of milk. During the churning process, several things came out of the ocean. Among all those things were a pot of poison. The poison had the potential to destroy the universe, which frightened the devas (Gods) and asuras (devils). To seek help, they ran to Lord Shiva, the Lord of destruction. Lord Shiva, in order to save the universe from the deadly effect of poison, swallowed it
but held it in His throat. This act resulted in Lord Shiva’s throat turning blue, for which he earned the name ‘Nilkantha’. To celebrate this event of Lord Shiva, Shivaratri is celebrated.

Masik Shivaratri Significance For Women

Throughout the country, the occasion of Shivaratri holds prime importance for the married women as well as young girls. On this day, women observe fast and worship Lord Shiva for the welfare of their husband and sons. Unmarried girls on the other hand observe fast and pray to Lord Shiva for a right match.

The Ultimate Wisdom

We know how Lord Krishna, though He was fully conscious of His Supreme Divinity, served His Guru and studied under him. What He said was what He did; and what He did was only a commentary on what He said. Let us, therefore, turn to the Bhagavad Gita, the Immortal Words of Sri Krishna, to see what He says about one’s attitude to the spiritual preceptor.

“Na hi jnaanena sadrisham pavitramiha vidyate,” said Lord Krishna; there is nothing here so grand, ennobling and purifying as Knowledge. How can we attain that Knowledge?

There are two statements that answer this great question. “Shraddhaavaan labhate jnaanam”—” a person who has Shraddha attains Jnana”. This word Shraddha is indeed very difficult to define; it is a perfect blending of love, faith, devotion, total egolessness and absolute surrender. The other statement is Tadviddhi pranipaatena pari-prasnena sevayaa; Upadekshyanti te jnaanam jnaaninah tattvadarsinah”; “Know that by prostrating yourself to, by questioning and by serving those Great Ones who have had a direct perception of the Self; they will impart that Knowledge to you.” This Knowledge is impossible for one to acquire by one’s own unaided self-effort.

This truth is clearly brought out in the Visvarupa-Darshana Yoga. After revealing Himself to Arjuna and after once again assuming the lovely human form of Krishna, the Lord declares: “The Wondrous Form that you beheld just now, even the gods are ever desirous of witnessing.” The Lord had already said: “The Devas and the Maharshis know Me not; for I am their very Source.” “But, by Ananya-Bhakti I am capable of being known,” says the Lord.

When a person has Ananya Bhakti the Lord reveals Himself to the devotee, even as He revealed Himself to Arjuna. This is a point worth remembering; even then it is He who reveals Himself. It is only after the Lord gave Arjuna the Divya-Chakshu or the Divine Eye was Arjuna able to behold Him. Similarly,“Dadaami buddhi-yogam tam yena maamupayaantite”, when the aspirant is ripe for Wisdom, “I give the Buddhi-Yoga to him and he attains Me.”

Even in the crowning declaration of the Gita: Sarvadharmaan parityajya maamekam sharanam vraja”, the Lord has made it abundantly clear Aham tvaa sarva paapebhyo mokshayishyaami maa shuchah.” “Surrender yourself wholeheartedly, unreservedly and totally to Me; that is all that you can do; I will free you from sins. You cannot do this yourself. But I will do it, fear not.”

“You can only develop Shraddha; I will give you Jnana. You can only surrender yourself; I will give you Liberation.” That is the final declaration of the Lord.

Wisdom– Prernamurti Bharti Shriji

Wisdom-- Prernamurti Bharti Shriji,Words Quotes ,Inspiring Words , Life Wisdom, Wise Quotes, Book Of Wisdom , Wisdom Means,
Prernamurti Bharti Shriji has given message that, greatest thing you can do to cultivate true wisdom is to practice the consciousness of the world as a dream and attain oneself.

Wisdom

If failure comes, say, “It is a dream.” Be unruffled in everything you do. If you try hard to cultivate the dream-opposite to whatever trials you may be experiencing, you will be able to change a nightmarish experience into a beautiful experience.

The truth is embodied in the wisdom of the great ones that reveals to us the world as it really is. Had it not been for the training I received in this wisdom, I would not have liked to remain in this world

Of all qualities the purest is wisdom. Its unpollutable flame of light is the only effective adversary of darkness, ignorance. In due course of time, when the yogi reaches the ultimate success of freeing his consciousness from the gross perception of the body and the cosmic elements, he realizes, within himself—in the Self or soul—his lost-and-found wisdom as the sole liberator.

It is not a pumping-in from outside that gives wisdom; it is the power and extent of your inner receptivity that determines how much you can attain of true knowledge, and how rapidly.

Forget the past, for it is gone from your domain! Forget the future, for it is beyond your reach! Control the present! Live supremely well now! It will whitewash the dark past, and compel the future to be bright! This is the way of the wise.

Freedom From Suffering (Desires)–Prernamurti Bharti Shriji

Freedom From Suffering

Freedom From Suffering (Desires)--Prernamurti Bharti Shriji,Buddhism Noble,Buddha, Buddhist Teachings,Four Truths, 4 Noble Truths ,Freed From Desire,Buddhism ,Freedom App, Download Freedom, Definition Of Freedom, Means Freedom, Freedom House, Freedom freedom software
Prernamurti Bharti shriji has given us the message to get rid of all sorrows and sufferings i.e to eradicate desires…

Freedom from desire is for the purpose of understanding the truth, not denying, but having greater access to joy and inner equilibrium.  The world cannot always give us fulfillment to our desires.  So, if we believe that our happiness comes from the world, we are deceived and our own belief denies us what is rightfully ours.  In that respect, mind is a brutal but effective teacher

As fire is obscured by smoke, as a looking glass by dust, as an embryo is enveloped by the womb, so it (wisdom) is covered by this (desire).
                                                                                                         —The Bhagavad Gita III:38

Also one becomes disillusioned when desires, fame and fortune do not truly offer the expected lasting happiness.  That is one reason why so many famous people overdose.

O Arjuna! the constant enemy of wise men is the unslakable flame of desire, by which wisdom is concealed.
                                                                                                         —The Bhagavad Gita III:39

The weight of fulfilling the immensity of their desires becomes too heavy.  They want more happiness then more then more and still, find themselves wanting more.  That is because their soul yearns for constant experiencing of its truth.  The mind, with its illusions that keeps joy at arms length, deprives one of that joy by sending one forever looking to fulfill yet another desire.  But its never enough…..ever….And when you are famous and wealthy and still ‘unhappy’, where do you turn for escape?

How to be free from root of sufferings (Desire) ??

The senses, mind, and intellect are said to be desire’s formidable stronghold; through these, desire deludes the embodied soul by eclipsing its wisdom.
Therefore, O Arjuna! first discipline the senses, then destroy desire, the sinful annihilator of wisdom and Self-realization.
                                                                                                   —The Bhagavad Gita III:40-41

God is Sufficient

One who is at peace in God is not tortured by unfulfilled earthly desires. No one can hurt him by thwarting him in some outward matter, because to him God is sufficient. Gods joyous presence is the only conditioning factor in his happiness. Each of you should try resolutely to meditate and to feel Gods presence, and see how quickly you will become aware of Gods favor.

Desire nothing.

The disciple of the Supremely Enlightened takes delight in the destruction of desire.

The man who has killed all desires…he indeed is exalted among men and relaxes in God.

It is not good conduct that puts you on the path to liberation, nor will ritual do it, nor book learning, nor seclusion and solitude, nor meditation. None of these alone can bring mastery or joy. It is desirelessness that does it.

The wise man…cuts all ties. He gives up all his desires. He resists all temptations. And he rises. And wherever he lives, in the city or the country, in the valley or in the hills, there is great joy. Even in the empty forest he finds joy, because he desires nothing.

FROM THE RAREST OF RARE SATSANG EXTRACTS FROM OUR REVERED H.H. MAIYA JI’S BOOK ‘GYAN KI GEHRAI’ (THE DEPTH OF WISDOM)

Devotee: Maiyaji, Gyan(wisdom) leads to Abhyasa(practice) or abhyasa

leads to gyana?

Maiya: Gyana is already there, for that you don’t need any abhyasa but

to remove ignorance abhyasa is necessary. Once ma told in a satsang

that a true devotee is one who does not feel any abhaava (scarcity) of

anything in his life except for God.

Devotee: Maa, ‘doesn’t feel scarcity’ means?

Maiya : it means that one doesn’t feel emptiness in his life of anything,

place, circumstances, human beings etc. He is capable of leading his life

without these things.

Devotee: Maiya, are ‘do not feeling scarcity ‘ and keeping patience

same thing?

Maiya: No, when we keep hope and wait for something to happen in

future, that is called patience. Patience gives you hope that one day I’ll

get that particular thing. Not feeling scarcity means that you don’t have

the desire for that thing at all. That thing doesnt keep any importance

for you that you keep waiting for it to get in future. A sadhak should be

such that he is able to live without anything except for God.
