Importance of ‘Guru’ (Spiritual Master)

gyan-ki-gehrai--1

Devotee: Maiya! What is one true relationship in this world?

Maiya: If there is any true relationship in this world, it’s of disciple and the Guru, rest all relations mold out of attachments or infatuated love, which break away with time. A heart to heart connection exists between Guru and disciple such as could be between doctor and patient. Like, a doctor diagnoses and correctly recommends affable cure; the patient too with full faith takes a doctor’s prescription, similarly, a Guru also treats the disease of rebirth and suffering. A disciple with unwavering faith and trust on the Guru, does spiritual practice according to His instructions and get freedom from cycle of birth and death.

Devotee: Maiya! Is Guru even greater than God?

Maiya: Kabir ji has said,

Guru Govind dono khade, kake lagu paay

Balihari Guru aapki, Govind diyo milaye

“If both, Guru and Govind (one of the names of Lord Krishna) were to appear at the door, whose feet will I worship first?” He answers, “It has to be the Guru’s feet first, because without Him, how would have I recognized God?

Guru is greater than God because knowing God is possible only through Guru’s grace. God sends human into this world, whereas Guru sends human back to God. Guru is the bridge connecting humans with God. Only a Guru can remove ignorance of us humans. The spiritual bliss- that which is difficult to achieve even through thousands of years of penance, a disciple can attain the same within a lifetime with Guru’s grace.

India is a country famous for its culture, customs, rituals, festivals, religious practices and above all its strong  spiritual foundation laid by Saints & Sages(rishis). Hindus considered their Saints and Sages as their forefathers and that these Saints  and Sages were  head of their families. That is where the Hindus got their Gotras and the Gotras were named after these Sages. Even today Hindus believe that these Sages protect their families from all evils  so in order to show respect and honour to these sages, this day is celebrated as Rishi Panchami.

Rishi Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha(waxing period of moon) in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada(mid Aug-mid sept) . On this day Hindus pay homage to these Seven Sages – Sapt Rishis- Kashyap, Atri, Bhardwaj, Vishwamitra, gautam, Jamdagni & Vashishtha.
Men and women observe fast on this day to get rid of their sins done knowingly or unknowingly. Women celebrate  Rishi Panchami Fast  with great devotion. There are certain rules & regulations which women are supposed to follow during their menstrual periods failing which they have to observe this fast of Rishi Panchami to get rid of from the’ Dosha’ they acquire.
                   Rituals :-
On this day, one should get up early in the morning and take bath in holy river. Then, the Sapt Rishi along with Arundhati are installed and worshipped with full devotion and rituals. One who is observing fast must listen to the tale signifying its glory as written in the scriptures. The things which can be consumed are Curd and Sathi rice. Independence Day–Prernamurti Bharti Shriji

independance-day

Today is 15 th August, our 70 th Independence Day. India got Independence from British Rule on this Day, that’s why we celebrate this Day. So, Congratulations to all our Brothers & Sisters! No doubt ,we do got freedom but that’s only physical , our mind is still highly impressed and influenced with the systems & culture of West. That means we are still facing mental slavery. We express our happiness when we host our National flag… Our Tiranga..but if you try to peep within, you will find that you have not completely come out from the slavery of West.

Our very own Indian culture, colorful festivals, religion, norms & spirituality hold a very high stature and is capable of giving the ultimate peace, happiness, prosperity to the humanity at large, still we are following Western culture and running blindly after something which has no destination. We should think about it and must abandon those thoughts which force us to look down at our own rich culture. The day we shall be able to do this, that would be our Independence Day in true sense.

So, lets resolve today, that we will have respect for our own culture, country, religion, our Saints & Sages, and also that we shall not allow the Western Culture to have adverse impact on our minds. Actually, that would bethe day of Independent India & Independent Indian.

We feel very proud that we are born on this “Dev Bhoomi”, where, in all the eras, the Saints, Sages & God took incarnations and directed mankind towards the Spiritual path which is the ultimate goal of every human being.

You too feel proud about it and free your mind, intellect , thoughts from slavery of bondages and host the flag of Independence within your liberated soul.

HAPPY FLAG HOSTING

Significance of Putrada Ekadashi – Prernamurti Bharti Shriji

putrada-ekadashi

Once upon a time, King Mahijeet was benevolently and dutifully ruling in Mahishmati Nagari (City). People were very happy in his kingdom. Even then the king was not happy because he didn’t have any son. Once he told his people – “You are similar to my children but still I don’t have any child of my own. This fact makes me sad. I gave alms to deities and Brahmans. I never ever took money which someone else deserves.

King told his people that – “I have neither committed any sin nor did I earn wealth by injustice. I have always nurtured my people like my own children. I have followed all the rules of etiquettes. Then for which deed am I getting this punishment of not having any offspring?” After listening to this, everyone including the king’s Purohits (family priests) andwell-wishers, started looking for a solution to this. While chasing for a solution, luckily they met rishi Lomash in some forest.

Looking at the people, rishi Lomash asked them the reason for approaching. Theysaid – “Our King is very Kind. He nourished us like his own children. He is very sad due to Childlessness. Thus, it is our duty to make our king happy. Maharaja, please provide some solution through which our King can get a son.” Lomash rishi was Trikal Gyani (omniscient). He meditated for a while , saw the past of King and told them –“Your King was a Vaishya in past who used to exploit human beings, drink their blood. This Vaishya used to do business by wandering from one town to another. On the day of Jyeshtha Shukla Dashami tithi (10 th day of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month), he was thirsty and went near a lake to drink water where a calf also came along with her mother cow to drink water. But to quench his own thirst, he ignored thirst of the calf and threw the calf out of lake along with mother cow. Because of this sin, King was suffering from the pain of childlessness in this birth and due to some Punya (Good deeds) in the past, he got an empire.

Now people asked Lomash rishi – “Prabhu, you are omnipresent. Please tell us what shall we do so that our King gets a son.” Lomash rishi said – “Putrada Ekadashi of Shravana Shukla Paksha helps to get a son. One who desires a child, should duly observe fast on Putrada Ekadashi. All of you, on behalf of your king, observe fast, do Jagran (all-night vigil), do Kirtan of name of Lord Narayan. Then due to this Punya (all the good deeds done on Putrada Ekadashi), your king will get a son." People duly observed fast on Putrada Ekadashi as guided by rishi Lomash and consecrated the Punya to their King. After a few days , Queen became pregnant and gave birth to a healthy child.

That’s why, You all observe fast on all the Ekadashi’s and also motivate others to do it.

GYAN KI GEHRAI (The Depth of Wisdom)

gyan-ki-gehrai--1

……Contd. from GYAN KI GEHRAI (The Depth of Wisdom)

Devotee: Maiya, all Saints preach it repeatedly that, we should always remember that “we belong to God and God belongs to us” but unfortunately, we don’t remember it all the time. How to keep this in mind, Always?

Maiya: Because you don’t have love & affection for God and you don’t feel the belongin with Him, that’s why you tend to forget. Like, if you keep money or any other dear thing of yours somewhere, you don’t forget, because you think that to be yours, it belongs to you. Similarly, if you feel same for that Supreme Being, you will always remember Him.

Devotee: Maiya, How to experience the divine nectar of God?

Maiya : For instance , when you eat some sweet only then you get to know its taste, similarly, only when you will remember Him with full devotion, then you will naturally taste the divine nectar.

GYAN KI GEHRAI (The Depth of Wisdom)

……Contd. from GYAN KI GEHRAI (The Depth of Wisdom)

Devotee: Maiya, who is closest to us?

Maiya :  God.

Devotee:  then why don’t we feel HIS presence?

Maiya: The worldly bondages, confusions and the restless nature of mind don’t let us feel HIS presence. Like, we can see our reflection in steady water but not in flowing or contaminated water.

Try to calm your mind, you will definitely feel HIS closeness.

Significance of Chaturmas

“During Chaturmas one should observe Austerity as much as possible for one’s well beimg and spiritual upliftment”Prernamurti Bharti Shriji

Significance of Chaturmas

It is believed that Chaturmas (period of four months from July to October) commences from Devshayani Ekadashi and lasts till Prabodhini Ekadashi i.e. Devuthi Ekadashi.

During the period of Chaturmas, good deeds like AgnistomaYajna, auspicious deeds, travel of the king, etc. should not be performed.

Our culture originated from austerity.Observing fast is a part of this austerity.Lord Narayana performed austerity for thousands of years and after that created Brahmaji from his lotus navel. When Brahmaji awakened after performing austerity for thousands of years, Lord Narayana ordered him to create the world. So, austerity lies in the roots of our world.

In simple terms, the more gold burns, the more it becomes finer. If milk is not boiled properly, then milk curdles. But if boiled properly, then it lasts longer.

In our daily life, we see that when things undergo some hardship, then only they become valuable and useful for others. Also, the tar roads on which vehicles run also undergo hardships; that tar is burned first, it is spread across and then roads are constructed.

Hence, in the daily life of human, austerity should be there.

Observing Ekadashi fast is a part of this austerity. The more human performs austerity, the more his life progresses and he attains peace, happiness and wealth.

Therefore, observing ekadashi fast is considered to be best fast.

In your daily life, refraining yourself from following the daily routine, facing hardships , doing things opposite to the daily routine, is called as austerity. For instance, you have your meals two to four times a day, but if you observe ekadashi fast, it is different from your daily routine of eating food. It is austerity for you.

During the period of Chaturmas; having meals only once a day, taking vow to refrain from eating your favorite food, doing japa specific number of times, kindle lamp(diya) for God, giving alms to poor or Brahmin, offer milk or water to Lord Shiva. Any type of small or big rule should be there in your life.

Beneficial Rules for chaturmas (niyam for chaturmas) :

  • During the period of Chaturmas, if you follow the rule to avoid eating jaggery, your life will become melodious.
  • By avoiding intake of oil, one gets blessed with a long-lived child.
  • During Chaturmas, if use of perfumed oil is refrained, then prosperity increases.
  • By following the rule of avoiding intake of betel leaves (paan), one gets material enjoyment (bhog samagri) and voice becomes melodious.
  • By abstaining ghee, charm and beauty of the skin increases.
  • By abstaining milk and curd, one gets the happiness equivalent to that in paradise (Golok).
  • By abstaining unhusked rice (dhaan), rice and barley (jau),one gets the fruit of performing Ashvamedh yajna.
  • If someone likes fruits but he refrains from eating fruits during Chaturmas, he gets blessed with many boys.
  • By eating food on lotus leaves, one does not have to suffer from the pain of hell.
  • By doing 108 circumambulations (parikrama) of temple, peepal tree (sacred fig) andfive Dev Vruksha (sacred trees), one gets the happiness of sitting in Dev Viman(sacred flight).
  • By sleeping on ground, one does not get any disease till ten thousand years.
  • By eating on leaves of Palash, one gets blessed with resourcefulness (sadhan sampannata) and beauty of skin increases.
  • Lots of fasts are there but during Chaturmas, if someone takes meal only once a day and observes silence (maun) means refrains from talking, even deities cannot disobey his orders.

Hence, during Chaturmas, by doing bhajan, worship, sadhana, japa and austerity; one attain fruits in multiples of crores.

Benefits of following Rules in Chaturmas:

During Chaturmas, one should certainly follow some or the other small rule. Abstain your favorite thing, which will be austerity for you. Austerity helps one to grow and succeed. Things attained by performing austerity in life, last for a longer time. Austerity is present in both beginning and continuance of this world. When temperature of sun increases, it rains. When earth becomes hot, it cultivates good food. When gold is heated, it turns into beautiful ornaments. Similarly, the more austerity is performed, the more life prospers and one becomes capable and strong. Therefore, during Chaturmas, one should certainly follow some rules; even a small rule will help you grow.

The Glory of a Guru cannot be explained in words, even our scriptures failed to completely describe the Glory of Guru — Prernamurti Bharti Shriji

Guru Purnima — Day Of Infinite Grace

Guru Poornima is the day of Infinite Grace being showered  by Guru on his disciples in the form of Spiritual Discourse or through their Divine Eyes (shaktipaat) or by prasadam in physical form.A true spiritual seeker has to make himself receptive to receive the grace of the Guru. A true disciple is one who dissolves himself completely in the Lotus Feet of Guru to get the grace and Guru makes disciple ONE with Himself.

For a spiritual seeker to attain salvation, the guidance of Spiritual Master (Sadguru/Guru) is must. Prachetas performed austerity for thousands of years, they got darshan of Lord Narayana, Lord Shiva; even then they did not experience that eternal happiness within. When they got Naradji as their Spiritual Master, through the path of salvation they attained eternal knowledge and bliss.

Only degrees and certificates are not enough to survive, one has to get the practical experience in any field to move ahead. Similarly, certificates of penance are not enough for a spiritual seeker; he has to take refuge in the lotus feet of a Guru to gain the practical experience to attain salvation.Even if one is passionless (biranchi/virakt) like Lord Shiva, even then he needs a spiritual master.

Guru bin bhav nidhi tarahi naa koyi,
Chaahe biranchi shankar sam hoii…

In this ocean of materialistic world, Guru is like a sailor who rows the boat of discourse and helps to traverse this huge ocean. In the company of a spiritual master; negative energy gets converted into positive energy, one becomes free from desires and gets liberated from the cycle of birth and death, which cannot be attained in the company of God himself…!! To opt for any life insurance policy, an agent is required. Similarly, to get the insurance of God, guru plays the role of an agent.

Glory of a Guru

The Glory of a Guru cannot be explained in words, even our scriptures failed to completely describe the Glory of Guru.If one losses everything in life but has the blessings of Guru with him and devotion for his Guru, he will definitely prosper again in life. Kabirji said – One should take darshan of his Guru daily, if it is not possible daily then take darshan once in week, if not possible in a week then go to take darshan once in 15 days, if that is not possible then go once in a month, if that is also not possible, then he should start preparations for his burial. The reason behind this is, only the company of a Guru can help one to walk and survive on the path of salvation; the more often one seeks company of a guru, the more quickly he attains salvation. So, we should try to make all our activities or Karmas , a process of liberation and not a bondage.

The Grace is there for everybody but its upto you how you make yourself available to it.
THE “SELF” IS NOT ATTAINED BY MERE INTELLIGENCE OR LEARNING OR BY READING SCRIPTURES ONLY. BUT IT IS ONLY WITH THE GRACE OF GURU THAT THE SELF GETS REVEALED TO YOU.
