Ganga Saptami is an event associated with the divinity of the Ganga River. She descended on Earth from her heavenly abode on this day, and it is also known as Jahnu Saptami or Ganga Jayanti. There is an interesting legend supported by important Hindu scriptures around the significance of this day. This occasion is celebrated with a lot of pomp in places like Allahabad, Prayag, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Varanasi; where the consecrated River Ganga and her tributaries flow. According to the Hindu calendar, it appears in the Hindu month of Vaishakha, which is April or May in the Gregorian calendar; on the seventh day of Shukla Paksha.

Somnath temple stands at the shore of the Arabian ocean on the western corner of Indian subcontinent in Gujarat State. This pilgrimage is one of the oldest and finds its reference in the ancient texts like Skandpuran, Shreemad Bhagavd Gita, Shivpurana etc. The hymn from Rig-Veda quoted below mentions the Lord Someshwar along with the great pilgrimage like Holy rivers Ganges, Yamuna and Eastward Saraswati. This signifies the ancient value of this pilgrimage.
Prernamurti Bharti Shriji’s glorified journey was carried out in Somnath temple, Organised by the temple trust , where devotees from all over India got privilege of her divine darshanas and spiritual discourse.
North of Somnath, en route to Veraval, is the famous Lord Krishna temple, Bhalka Tirtha,
Nearby is Dehotsarg, where He succumbed to His mortal wound. The temple at Bhalka Tirth is known as Mahaprabhuji’s Bethak, and a basil tree has been planted in Lord Krishna’s memory. At the Dehotsarg Tirth, in the 9th century AD Shri Vallabhacharya gave discourses on Shrimad Bhagvat Gita for seven days, as well as the revered Gita Mandir, which has eighteen marble pillars with a chapter from the Bhagvat Gita inscribed on each one. The temple also contains a beautiful tribhangi idol of Lord Krishna playing his flute.
The Geetamandir has been built here where the divine message of Shrimad Bhagavat Gita is carved on eighteen marble pillars. Shri Lakshminarayan temple is located close by. The Balramjiki Gufa is the place from where Lord Shrikrishna’s elder brother Balaramji took journey to His final abode.
Triveni Ghat in Somnath is the meeting point of three holy rivers – Kapil, Hiran and a mystical River Saraswati, which are believed to be flowing to their ultimate destination – Arabian Sea. These stages of rivers where they meet and then flow together to the sea symbolises human birth, life and death.
Rajputa Vaja clan was in charge of Somnath during the Muslim desecrations. The devotional episode of the princess Veni is said to have been depicted in the novel by Shri K.M. Munshi. The temple was outside of the fort wall of Prabhas Pattan at the time of holy war with Gazani. The soldiers of Gazani attempted an abduction of the princess Veni, an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva who used to regularly visit the temple to offer her services to the Lord Shiva. The traditions maintain that the Shiva linga spontaneously got divided and the princess got buried into it. The Shiva temple here is known as Veneshwar temple after the fond memory of the divine episode of Veni.
The glorified carried onto place where Pujya Lilashshji Maharaj did penance and attended Nirvana. after that Dakshinmukhi Ganpati Mandir and behind that Swayambhu Shivlinga, there were many Shiv Lnga but the one appeared only once in month else covered with Sea water.

Koliyak, Bhavnagar–Nishkalank Mahadeva Temple — Gujarat is full of wonders and awe. This temple is buried inside the sea. On a heavy tide day, all that can be seen are just the flag and a pillar. It is beyond one’s comprehension that there is a Lord Shiva Temple just under the fierce sea. This temple still exists, and people visit this place on foot! The temple has 5 distinct Swayumbu Shiva lingams inside. This is certainly one of the best spiritual destinations!
The following temple story dates back to Mahabaratha era… Pandavas killed all the Kuravas and won the battle. Pandavas were grief stricken, knowing they acquired sins for killing their own relatives. In order to find redemption for their sins, Pandavas met Lord Krishna. To remove the sins, Krishna hands over a black Flag and a Black COW. He asks the Pandavas to follow it, when both Cow and flag turns white, they all will be pardoned. Krishna also advises them to do penance to lord Shiva, after that. The angst stricken brothers followed the cow wherever it went and carried the flag. They walked for days, to different places and the color did not change. Finally, when they arrived at the Koliyak Beach, both cow’s and the flag’s color turned to white. Pandavas were exalted. And all the 5 brothers sat for deep penance, meditated on lord Shiva.
Lord Shiva, pleased by all the brothers, appeared in lingam form in front of each brother. In total there were 5 (Swayumbu) lingams which appeared on their own. Pandavas were delighted to see this and they worshiped all the five lingams with great devotion. Lord Shiva here is known as Nishkalan Mahadeva. ‘Nishkalank’ has many meanings, they are clean, pure, guiltless, to cleanse, to purify, etc…….

Wherever you see flowers, you naturally get attracted towards them.Isn’t it? You feel good while looking at the flowers. Where flowers bloom, you can’t stop yourselves from looking at them. You naturally get attracted towards them and adore them. There is so much of beauty around…!!
Similarly, if your heart is also blossoming with the flowers of virtues, the attraction of people towards you increases naturally.Everybody gets attracted towards you naturally. Not only that, even God gets pleased with the fragrance of your virtues.God comes running towards one whose heart is blossoming with the flowers of virtues.
These flowers are not red to attract your attention immediately.Neither is it lily to attract with its fragrance. So, it is neither red in color nor lily, it neither contains any color nor any fragrance; even then these flowers are so beautiful. They look beautiful, don’t they?
Their life is very short. If they are plucked from the tree, they can’t survive for more than 2 hours.Even if they are on the tree itself, even then their life span is not more than 2 days. Can’t you be virtuous like these flowers at least even after being a human; so that your virtues attract someone, your aroma attracts God?This plant, full of flowers, looks so lovely.
Similarly, if you want to become aromatic, you want to become lily; then naturally your fragrance will spread in all the directions. If your heart is red with the virtues, then you become eligible for the worship of Lord Ganesha.Even if there is no color, like the white flowers; still they are flowers only. The flowers of virtues naturally attract everyone.
Hence, you should instill virtues like that of white flowers at least within you.You will do it I suppose, won’t you ?At least this much is expected out of you…!!
The festivals in our Indian culture are based upon various scientific facts. One should respect and celebrate all these festivals;and thus attain happiness, prosperity, health, peace of mind and get benefited spiritually.
Every human being longs for Joy, happiness, peace, love & affection. There are various materialistic actions or things which please us, they bring us joy. But this happiness and such joys are momentary like a flash of lightening. We cannot accomplish any household or professional chores in the flash of lightening as it lasts only for a moment or two. You work, earn wealth , get married or enjoy any other materialistic thing, you certainly get happy, pleased and joyful, but it is momentary just like the flash of lightening. There is light only, which is not enough to cook or work. You cannot cherish that joy, that sense of happiness forever. We still experience the cravings for more, because there is a feeling of incompleteness right from the start of the day until the night falls, right from the birth until the last breath. These cravings drag human beings tirelessly to acquire more & more, desire for one pleasure after the other. Had you been satisfied, then you would not have dragged yourself in search of yet another joy. But because it is momentary ,the sense of incompleteness is there, which drags us from one desire to another. Where one finds real joy and happiness, one finds solace. This solace can be found even though you are not pleasing yourself, even if you going through tough time, you will find solace and internal peace in true sense. If someone abuses you, you feel bad. But if someone praises you or calls you by the names of great men you feel good. This is because you have those great traits within you of peace, truth, love, happiness. You are simply HIM (GOD). This is the reason, you want to earn the respect which matches up to HIS level. We want eternal peace, happiness but the situation is that, we are sitting in the drainage sink and still expect fragrance. The drainage of cravings seeps in our heart along with the purity of the need for eternal peace. When we have both these things within us then why not pay heed to the need for eternal peace and find our own salvation and at the same time help others to search for their salvation too.
Unconditional Surrender: Someone asked Gopis – Why do you love Krishna so much? He is dark in complexion, has doesn’t look straight, has awkward style of standing and walking. He lies, steals cloths, etc. He is a clever too. What good quality you find in him that you love him so much…!! You are so beautiful, you might have easily got someone else.
Gopis replied – Whether he is dark or fair in complexion, beautiful or ugly looking; it does not matter to us. We do not love him with any condition, our love is unconditional. He is adorable that’s why we can’t stop ourselves from loving him. If a baby is dirty, cloths are torn; even then mother hugs and loves the baby because she considers baby to be her own. She does not put any condition like the baby should be clean and should wear all the cloths then only she will love and hug the baby. Similarly, your love also should be unconditional like that of Gopis and mother. It should not be based upon fulfillment of any conditions or expectations like – if this happens then only I will love God, if that happens then only I will listen to the discourses, if my son lives up to my expectations then only I will worship God. If conditions are put then you are doing business with God. You do business everywhere with everybody in this world. Keep at least one place aside where there is no business but only unconditional surrender and love. And that one place can only be lotus feet of God and spiritual master.
… govind hare gopal hare, jai keshav madhav shyam hare…
There are different type of colours, different type of designs growing over there. That is just wild grass and flowers, but while chanting “ govind hare”kirtana(devotional song) plucked them and tied them a bhaava (divine emotions for Lord) emerged, and a bouquet was made out of it. Now, its looking beautiful rather than just being unwanted grass on the ground. Now its together and beautiful and full of bhaava & they can be offered to Guru or God.
govind hare gopal hare, jai keshav madhav shyam hare…
Now you will start liking this wild grass, because your bhaava is mixed into it. Similarly, in this materialistic world, the unwanted wild grass germinate in human mind in disguise of good or bad deeds, thoughts & vritti(a wave in the calm waters of mind lake) etc. Then, each one too should be plucked, make garland out of it, make bunch of it and offer your bhaava to you Guru or God.
govind hare gopal hare, jai keshav madhav shyam hare…
You will find that vritti of mind more calm and peaceful as bhaava for God is mixed into it. Therefore, each and every thought of your mind whether good or bad should be turned into a bunch and mix within it the bhaava for that Supreme…..
