Significance of Putrada Ekadashi – Prernamurti Bharti Shriji

putrada-ekadashi

Once upon a time, King Mahijeet was benevolently and dutifully ruling in Mahishmati Nagari (City). People were very happy in his kingdom. Even then the king was not happy because he didn’t have any son. Once he told his people – “You are similar to my children but still I don’t have any child of my own. This fact makes me sad. I gave alms to deities and Brahmans. I never ever took money which someone else deserves.

King told his people that – “I have neither committed any sin nor did I earn wealth by injustice. I have always nurtured my people like my own children. I have followed all the rules of etiquettes. Then for which deed am I getting this punishment of not having any offspring?” After listening to this, everyone including the king’s Purohits (family priests) andwell-wishers, started looking for a solution to this. While chasing for a solution, luckily they met rishi Lomash in some forest.

Looking at the people, rishi Lomash asked them the reason for approaching. Theysaid – “Our King is very Kind. He nourished us like his own children. He is very sad due to Childlessness. Thus, it is our duty to make our king happy. Maharaja, please provide some solution through which our King can get a son.” Lomash rishi was Trikal Gyani (omniscient). He meditated for a while , saw the past of King and told them –“Your King was a Vaishya in past who used to exploit human beings, drink their blood. This Vaishya used to do business by wandering from one town to another. On the day of Jyeshtha Shukla Dashami tithi (10 th day of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month), he was thirsty and went near a lake to drink water where a calf also came along with her mother cow to drink water. But to quench his own thirst, he ignored thirst of the calf and threw the calf out of lake along with mother cow. Because of this sin, King was suffering from the pain of childlessness in this birth and due to some Punya (Good deeds) in the past, he got an empire.

Now people asked Lomash rishi – “Prabhu, you are omnipresent. Please tell us what shall we do so that our King gets a son.” Lomash rishi said – “Putrada Ekadashi of Shravana Shukla Paksha helps to get a son. One who desires a child, should duly observe fast on Putrada Ekadashi. All of you, on behalf of your king, observe fast, do Jagran (all-night vigil), do Kirtan of name of Lord Narayan. Then due to this Punya (all the good deeds done on Putrada Ekadashi), your king will get a son." People duly observed fast on Putrada Ekadashi as guided by rishi Lomash and consecrated the Punya to their King. After a few days , Queen became pregnant and gave birth to a healthy child.

That’s why, You all observe fast on all the Ekadashi’s and also motivate others to do it.

The Glory of a Guru cannot be explained in words, even our scriptures failed to completely describe the Glory of Guru — Prernamurti Bharti Shriji

Guru Purnima — Day Of Infinite Grace

Guru Poornima is the day of Infinite Grace being showered  by Guru on his disciples in the form of Spiritual Discourse or through their Divine Eyes (shaktipaat) or by prasadam in physical form.A true spiritual seeker has to make himself receptive to receive the grace of the Guru. A true disciple is one who dissolves himself completely in the Lotus Feet of Guru to get the grace and Guru makes disciple ONE with Himself.

For a spiritual seeker to attain salvation, the guidance of Spiritual Master (Sadguru/Guru) is must. Prachetas performed austerity for thousands of years, they got darshan of Lord Narayana, Lord Shiva; even then they did not experience that eternal happiness within. When they got Naradji as their Spiritual Master, through the path of salvation they attained eternal knowledge and bliss.

Only degrees and certificates are not enough to survive, one has to get the practical experience in any field to move ahead. Similarly, certificates of penance are not enough for a spiritual seeker; he has to take refuge in the lotus feet of a Guru to gain the practical experience to attain salvation.Even if one is passionless (biranchi/virakt) like Lord Shiva, even then he needs a spiritual master.

Guru bin bhav nidhi tarahi naa koyi,
Chaahe biranchi shankar sam hoii…

In this ocean of materialistic world, Guru is like a sailor who rows the boat of discourse and helps to traverse this huge ocean. In the company of a spiritual master; negative energy gets converted into positive energy, one becomes free from desires and gets liberated from the cycle of birth and death, which cannot be attained in the company of God himself…!! To opt for any life insurance policy, an agent is required. Similarly, to get the insurance of God, guru plays the role of an agent.

Glory of a Guru

The Glory of a Guru cannot be explained in words, even our scriptures failed to completely describe the Glory of Guru.If one losses everything in life but has the blessings of Guru with him and devotion for his Guru, he will definitely prosper again in life. Kabirji said – One should take darshan of his Guru daily, if it is not possible daily then take darshan once in week, if not possible in a week then go to take darshan once in 15 days, if that is not possible then go once in a month, if that is also not possible, then he should start preparations for his burial. The reason behind this is, only the company of a Guru can help one to walk and survive on the path of salvation; the more often one seeks company of a guru, the more quickly he attains salvation. So, we should try to make all our activities or Karmas , a process of liberation and not a bondage.

The Grace is there for everybody but its upto you how you make yourself available to it.
THE “SELF” IS NOT ATTAINED BY MERE INTELLIGENCE OR LEARNING OR BY READING SCRIPTURES ONLY. BUT IT IS ONLY WITH THE GRACE OF GURU THAT THE SELF GETS REVEALED TO YOU.

Significance of Nirjala Ekadashi – Prernamurti Bharti Shriji

Nir-jala means water-less or without water and the fasting on Nirjala Ekadashi is observed without water or any type of food. Due to its strict fasting rules, Nirjala Ekadashi fast is the toughest amongst all Ekadashi fasts. However if observed religiously, it is one of the most rewarding occasion. Staunch Vishnu devotees undertake this fast, and they do not drink water or consume any food while fasting on this day. The fast begins on Ekadasi sunrise and ends on next day (Dwadasi) sunrise. It is believed that observing Nirjala Ekadashi is also equal to going on pilgrimage. People believe that observers of this fast, after death, are received by messengers from Vaikunta, abode of Vishnu and not by Yama, the god of death. Those who are not able to follow the other twenty four Ekadashi fasting in a year must observe a fast on Nirjala Ekadashi. It is believed that observing a single fast on Nirjala Ekadashi bestows the blessings and benefits of all twenty four Ekadashi fasting in a year.

When is Nirjala Ekadashi 2016? & The Legend of Nirjala Ekadashi

In the year 2016, Nirajala Ekadashi falls on 16th June. Nirjala Ekadashi is also known as Pandava Bhima Ekadashi or Bhimseni or Pandava Nirjala Ekadashi or Bhima Ekadashi, based on the legend of Bhima, the second and strongest of the five Pandava brothers. Based on the story from Brahma Vaivarta Purana, it is said that Bhima wanted to keep all ekadashi fasts, but being a lover of food, he could control his hunger. His entire family of four brothers, Yudhishthir, Arjuna, Nakul and Sahadeva, along with their wife Draupadi and mother Kunti, used to observe the Ekadashi fast without fail. He was scared of dishonoring Lord Vishnu, for whom the fast is observed, hence, he approached sage Vyasa for a solution. Sage Vyasa advised Bhima to observe Nirjala Ekadashi, once a year and this way he can attain the virtue of all 24 ekadashis. As per this Nirjala ekadasi story, one is able to get the benefits of all Ekadasis by observing one Nirjala Ekadasi. Benefits – Devotees who are unable to observe all twenty fours Ekadashi fasting in a year should observe single Nirjala Ekadashi fast as  fasting on Nirjala Ekadashi brings all benefits of twenty four Ekadashi fasting in a year.

In Her satsang (spiritual discourse), Shriji told villagers how to get rid of addictions and also motivated them to be cautious against these deadly habits; many people took a solemn vow in Her presence after Her divine speech and graciousness . There seemed to be drastic changes within villagers and they wished to quit addiction from their lives such as smoking, chewing tobacco etc. Their boundless joy and satisfied eyes were the proof of what they got from Shriji’s presence as there had been no one in their village like Shriji who had visited them to know their well being. They carried the things got in charity on their heads and left for their homes with extremely contented hearts. Shriji too took the farewell from villagers by showering grace through Her sight…

YOGA–Essence Of Life—Prernamurti Bharti Shriji

Yoga - Essence of Life Title imgYoga is an ascent into the purity of the absolute perfection that is the essential state of all human beings. This goal requires the removal of our enveloping personal impurities, the stilling of our lower feelings and thoughts, and the establishment of a state of inner balance and harmony. All the methods of yoga are based on the perfection of our personalities and may help to create a new world order.(sc)

Yoga means a state or condition, a technique, auspiciousness and union. Patanjali defined yoga as the cessation of the modifications of the mind. The practice of yoga leads to mental stability, equanimity, concentration, meditation, good health, supernatural powers, devotion, selftransformation and liberation.(sc)

All the chapters in the Bhagavadgita contain the word yoga, signifying its importance in Hinduism and in achieving liberation. Yoga is the means and yoga is also the goal. Through the practice of yoga you reach the highest state of yoga, which is union with your inner Self or with the Supreme Self. Yoga is a multidisciplinary tool extremely useful to purify the mind and body and gain control over our minds and emotions.(sc)

Yoga is also the most popular means for selftransformation and physical wellbeing. It is useful for both the wordily people seeking mental peace and ascetics seeking liberation. Yoga helps you to become a better person, a better human being and a better devotee. The most popular forms of yoga are classical yoga of Patanjali, also known as Ashtanga yoga, karma yoga, jnana yoga and bhakti yoga. Some Saiva traditions practice hatha yoga, mantra yoga and tantra yoga. Inherent to all these yogas are Sanyasa Yoga (the yoga of renunciation) and buddhi yoga (the yoga of one pointed intelligence).(sc)

For those who want to follow the path of yoga towards peace and evolution, there are a few prerequisites. We need good health, a calm mind, sincerity, and a burning desire to rise above our human imperfections. Our health is maintained by a simple and well- regulated diet, adequate sleep, some physical exercise, and relaxation. Imbalance or excesses in food, exercise, sleep, or our personal relationships produce physical and emotional disruptions that disturb the practice of yoga and meditation.(sc)

If the aspects of our daily lives are well balanced, then certainly we can make progress in yoga in the modern world. Regardless of where we live or what we do, we can create a life conducive to yoga.(sc)

These various paths of yoga include:

1) Hatha yoga, which deals mostly with body and breathing exercises that help the student to become aware of his or her internal states. Hatha yoga exercises help to make the body a healthy and strong resource for the student. (sc)

2) Karma yoga, which means “the yoga of action.” This path teaches us to do our own duties in life skillfully and selflessly, dedicating the results of our actions to humanity. Practicing this aspect of yoga helps us to live unselfishly and successfully in the world without being burdened or distressed. (sc)

3) Jnana yoga is the path of knowledge and wisdom. This path involves intense mental discipline. Knowledge dawns as we learn to discriminate between the real and the unreal, between the transient and the everlasting, between the finite and the infinite. This path is meant for only a fortunate few, who are aware of the higher and subtler realities of life. (sc)

4) Bhakti yoga is the yoga of devotion. This path is the way of love and devotion. It is the path of self-surrender, of devoting and dedicating all human resources to attaining the ultimate reality.(sc)

5) Kundalini yoga is a highly technical science. The guidance of a competent teacher is required to learn methods for awakening the serpent-like vital force that remains dormant and asleep in every human body.(sc)

6) Mantra yoga, which involves meditation and the use of certain sounds called “mantras,” which are traditionally transmitted to the student, and are used as objects of concentration. Mantras help the student in self-purification, concentration, and meditation. These mantras were discovered in deep meditation by highly advanced sages and teachers.(sc)

In our daily lives,Yoga can be very helpful in eliminating many physical and psychological problems. A significant amount of the disease we experience is actually either directly or indirectly the result of conflicts, repression, or emotional distress arising in the conscious or unconscious mind. Yoga helps us to become aware of these conflicts and to resolve them, establishing tranquility and peace. In this way, Yoga becomes a powerful resource for facing the challenges of daily life.(sc)

Prolonged and intense Yoga leads to the last step of raja yoga– the state of samadhi, the superconscious state. In this state we become one with the higher Self and transcend all imperfections and limitations. The state of samadhi is the fourth state of consciousness, which transcends the three normal states of waking, dreaming, and dreamless sleep.(sc)

A person who attains samadhi becomes a gift to his or her society. If humanity is ever to achieve a more evolved civilization, it will be possible only because of our growth and evolution as human beings. A person who is established in samadhi lives his or her whole life as a spontaneous expression of the unhindered flow of supreme consciousness. This superconscious level is our human essence; it is universal and transcends all the divisions of culture, creed, gender or age. When we become aware of this state within, our whole life is transformed. When we transform ourselves and experience serenity, peace, and freedom, we also transform our societies and all of human civilization. This awareness of the infinite consciousness is the practical and real goal of yoga.(sc)
